Rangetata (28.3)

After some photo stops for Mt. Cook (and some other things) we made our way strait to Rangetata, where a few fearless people (me included) went rafting. The Rangetata River has some grade 5 rapids, which are the highest commercially rafted rapids (and the last one, to allow you to stay in the raft).
Rainbow we encountered on our journey
The most photographed church in New Zealand
The river we rafted.
Before we could start rafting, we had to be clad right: Wetsuit, boots, windproof jacket, lifejacket etc. After that, we were brought to the starting point where we went in to the water. We had about half an hour before we encountered the first rapid. We used this time to practice paddling and all the other commands needed to get through the rapids save and sound.
Me in full gear.
Then we slowly made our way through the Grades: first a few easy ones (grade 2) then a grade 3 and in the end, the big ones. After we made it through them, we could do some cliff jumps (ca. 4 and 10 meters), which of course I did ;-).
After our first rapid, we weare eager for more
We deffinitely got wet.
We did it!
Is this a good idea?
Most certainly not, but who cares...
The rest was just paddling over the smooth river, drive back with the wan and finally, a hot shower to warm up.
